The President is Not King – Pelosi

On the “Today Show,” Nancy Pelosi sat down with Campbell Brown to discuss her trip to Syria as well as the stand-off between the White House and Congress over war-funding. Pelosi said: “The president is not king, the president is the president of the United States. America is a democracy. We have to make decisions based on our judgment. Thus far, the president’s judgment hasn’t been good in terms of, say, for example, the war on Iraq. So with all due respect to the president and the role he has, we want respect for the role we have. And members of Congress have gone on fact-finding trips since our country began. We’re not going to stop because the president wants to avoid the facts and doesn’t want to engage in dialogue.”

All Roads Lead to Rove

The administration is rife with scandals. It just never seems to stop. The main focus now is the Attorney-General Alberto Gonzales for presiding over the firing last year of eight government prosecutors, allegedly because they refused to bow to political pressure in bringing or halting sensitive cases.

The administration is claiming that the eight were removed for under performance among other reasons. Few feel that Mr. Gonzles can survive. He is at the front line of the firing line as some suspect. Some feel he will become just another casualty following Donald Rumsfeld, John Bolton, Lewis Libby who have lost their jobs in the past few months.

As everyone knows the real target of the Democrats is Karl Rove, the architect, the president’s closest advisor and who masterminded all of his election victories in Texas and nationally. The Democrats want to subpoena Rove. The president declaring executive privilege is refusing to give him up.

The Democrats are now looking for a smoking e-mail that will prove what they have suspected all along, that Rove ordered the firings of politically independent prosecutors.
On Thursday, the White House said it simply “lost” 5 million emails from 2003 to 2005, plus “thousands” more from RNC accounts.

You don’t believe it? Neither does Senator Pat Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Watch his astonished and angry reaction:

And thank you Senator Leahy for having the backbone in taking a stand.

Let’s hope that Senator Leahy is right – that the “deleted” emails can be retrieved.
But in the meantime, it’s time to demand full accountability from the person who is clearly responsible both for the illegal use of RNC email accounts and for the illegal deletion of emails: Karl Rove.

Karl Rove has been in charge of everything political in the Bush White House and he’s been at the centre of nearly every Bush administration scandal. Some now want Rove impeached.
It’s time for Congress to subpoena Karl Rove along with every e-mail he every wrote or received, either using his White House account or RNC accounts or personal accounts. Sign the petition to Congress:
